Each of the Star Trek series has at least one character who walked the line between two worlds. Worf was one who was featured the most having appeared in both TNG and DS9. STCCG: Redux brings back dual affiliations in a way that works with the less restrictive format of Second Edition. Here, we feature Worf as our example to demonstrate.
Although you may use multiple affiliations in your deck, you will likely want to focus on one as the primary affiliation of the deck. Dual affiliation personnel and ships help to give you an advantage by allowing cards which affect each affiliation separately to affect that card. Worf, Security Detail Leader is affected by cards which target both the Federation and Klingon affiliations. He is also able to be played at a Headquarters for either affiliation.
Worf's ability also changes for each of his two versions, allowing him to focus on one of the two affiliations depending on how your deck is built. This gives the player the ability to fine tune their deck and take advantage of Worf's dual heritage.
We don't plan to use dual affiliations often for STCCG: Redux, so you won't see a flood of these. We hope this will allow the mechanic to make sense and become a reasonable part of deck design
