At this year's Power-Con, a yearly gathering of fans of the 80's hit cartoon He-Man and the Masters of the Universe, Director/Actor/Writer/Producer Kevin Smith announced that he is set to head a new limited series on Netflix called "Masters of the Universe: Revelation". The anime-style cartoon is set to pick up where the previous 80's show left off (ignoring the reboots, spin=offs, and movies that followed it) and continue some of the plot-lines which were left unresolved when that show ended. That show ran from 1983-1985 and was based on the Mattel toy line which ran from 1982-1988.
“I’m Eternia-ly grateful to Mattel TV and Netflix for entrusting me with not only the secrets of Grayskull, but also their entire Universe,” Smith said. “In ‘Revelation,’ we pick up right where the classic era left off to tell an epic tale of what may be the final battle between He-Man and Skeletor! Brought to life with the most metal character designs Powerhouse Animation can contain in the frame, this is the Masters of the Universe story you always wanted to see as a kid!”
