The clubhouse lands on a pier in San Francisco and Beek receives a secret decoder ring which he ordered from the back of a box of Battling Bits cereal. Nancy Sluth arrives, (not so) hot on the trail of Victor Verb. She is looking for clues, having already searched everywhere else. Agent 000 calls and offers to help in locating Victor and Nancy informs him that she suspects Victor's brothers, Vito and Vern, are spies (though she has no evidence to support this). After finally finding a clue written in a secret code, The Fat Man arrives demanding to see it. He leaves after believing the clue to be gibberish. Agent 000 suggests Nancy interview those who know Victor so she talks to his parents who offer nothing substantial. Finally, Agent 000 arrives and decodes the clue: "The secret ring is in the clubhouse". The Fat Man returns with plastic explosives threatening to blow up Nancy if she doesn't hand over the ring. Nancy calls The Fat Man's bluff and declares that the plastic explosive is nothing more than Nutti-Putti. He leaves in an outrage providing a momentary relief until Victor himself arrives looking for his ring. He takes Beek's ring claiming it is his because it is red.
